This summer, we’re offering a series of online Roll With It workshops — just for parents! Join us for one or all of this four-part virtual lunch series designed to support parents of middle-schoolers through one of the most dynamic — and sometimes dizzying — stages of growing up:

  • July 7- When everything feels like a big deal: helping tweens manage big emotions

  • July 14- What to say when your tween says ‘you don’t get it’

  • July 21- Friend drama and social struggles: How to support your middle schooler without taking over

  • July 28- From overwhelmed to organized: Executive function tips for middle schoolers (and their parents)

These thoughtful midday workshops offer a space to gain perspective, learn practical tools, and swap worry for wisdom — in one short hour.

WHAT’S IN THE TOOLBOX

At Anchor Psychotherapy, our approach is always customized. Annie draws from a range of evidence-based therapies and helpful tools to best support your individual goals, growth, and healing. Here are a few of the therapeutic approaches in our toolbox:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps us accept difficult emotions and thoughts while committing to actions that align with individual values. This approach builds resilience so we can live more fully, even in challenging times.

  • Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts includes modalities such as Art Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy. This approach uses creative expression as a tool for self-discovery and healing. Through mediums like drawing and painting, or organizing miniatures in the sand, we move and work through our difficulties as opposed to talking through them.

  • Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

CCPT provides incredible opportunities for children to build resilience, grow in emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and build healthy communication skills, through what they do best: play.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This evidence-based approach promotes clarity, self-motivation, and healthy habits through gaining more control over one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is designed to help us regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and build healthier relationships. It provides practical tools to help us achieve balance and navigate life more effectively.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT helps us identify our deepest desires and patterns in relationships so we can build secure attachments and authentic connections with others.

  • Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP helps us work through anxiety by gradually exposing us to our fears. Over time, we change our unhelpful responses to anxiety and free ourselves from fear!

  • Filial Therapy

Filial Therapy helps parents renew and solidify their relationships with their children through play therapy skills. In addition to helping families reconnect, it helps children better regulate, cope, communicate, and grow in relationships.

  • Positive Discipline (PD)

PD provides parents a toolkit for addressing their children’s concerning behaviors. It offers techniques for long-term results of decreasing poor behaviors while increasing a child’s motivation, sense of capability, and skills to be successful in life and in relationships.

  • Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)

SPACE is a short-term, evidence-based modality that teaches parents how to help their children work through anxiety. Parents learn to decrease accommodations and increase support for their children, helping their children gain greater control over life’s challenges.
